Hello! I’m Areal Joy, and I can’t wait to work with you!

I’m the owner of Thistle and Oak tattoo studio. I have been tattooing almost 9 years but I’ve been in the industry closer to 15 years. I started out as a piercer and shop manager.

Thistle and Oak is a manifestation of my dream of having an inclusive, safe, and accepting space where both artist and client can share a comfortable experience during the tattoo process and leave feeling like they’ve made a friend.

I’m a self proclaimed chaotic goblin. My pronouns are She/They. I love pop culture pieces or the chance to get weird with a design. I love to hike or binge fantasy and sci-fi shows. I am usually reading at least 3 books at a time. I’m known for my unique earring choices. I’m very passionate about small trinkets, weird art projects, singing very loudly, talking about my current hyper fixation and plants. I’m a plant fanatic and love to incorporate that into my botanical designs.

I work Wednesday through Saturday from 12-7.

Mondays and Tuesdays available twice a month.
